German B1.1

The German Level B1.1 course is suitable for all students who have successfully completed the comprehensive A2 level and wish to build on and enrich their grammatical and vocabulary knowledge while developing their communication skills in order to gain greater confidence to converse more freely on topics related to everyday and professional activities.

Upon successful completion of the German language course, level B1.1, which is defined as the first step in starting the so-called intermediate level of the German language, you will be able to understand and tell longer stories in the past and future tense, you will also be able to make a comment when listening to radio interviews on a variety of current topics. Understanding and discussing written information and statistics on complex topics, as well as formulating and justifying arguments for and against, will be a task you will be able to handle successfully. In addition, in conversation you will be able to make suggestions, give advice, criticise, and respond to criticism because you will have a rich vocabulary. Last but not least, your written communication will have reached a level that allows you to compose written applications and queries.

The system of instruction in the German B1.1 course is Schritte international neu, the same as in A2.Thanks to the well-established structure of the system, students' written and oral communication skills continue to develop in stages as they progress to the next level of language acquisition. The course syllabus aims to give students the confidence to use the language with ease by recounting past events, composing essays and texts in the journalistic genre using the grammar and vocabulary covered in the level.The well-chosen topics also encourage students to participate actively in discussions, which helps them to further develop their communication skills. The vocabulary and grammar covered in the B1.1 syllabus are as follows:

• Съобщения за минали събития, спомени от детството, щастливи преживявания
• Изразяване на мнения и предпочитания, описание на качества на предмети и хора, постигане на единодушие при дискусия
• Даване на съвети за здравето, разговор при лекаря, описание на фитнес-упражнения
• Изучаване на чужди езици, изразяване на нереалност и учтивост;
• Намиране на работа – обяви за работа и кандидатстване за работно място, изразяване на интереси и желания, свързани с работата
• Обслужване на клиенти, идеи за бизнес, разговори за знания и компетентности, съвети за проблеми от работното ежедневие
• Проблеми в съвместния живот, конфликти със съседите – ситуации и решения, сведения за лична житейска ситуация.

Граматика:

• Употреба и структура със съюзи когато – „als“; въпреки че – „obwohl“; за да – „um…zu“, „damit“; вместо да – „statt…zu“; без да – „ohne … zu“; не само…, но и – „nicht nur…. sondern auch“; наистина…,но – „zwar…aber“; или…, или – „entweder….oder“
• Предлози с родителен падеж – поради – „wegen“; по време на – „während“; извън – „außerhalb“; в – „innerhalb“ ; въпреки – „ trotz“
